The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR), often known as the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train project, has completed a critical milestone by completing all nine river bridges on the route between Vapi and Surat. According to ANI, the most recent addition, the Kharera River bridge in Gujarat’s Navsari district, was completed on October 29.
The Kharera River bridge spans 120 metres and is supported by three full-span girders, each 40 metres long. According to ANI, the height of its piers ranges from 14.5 to 19 m, including one circular pier with a diameter of 4 m and three more piers of 5 m.
The bridge is located roughly 45 kilometres from Vapi and 6 kilometres from Bilimora.
The nine bridges finished in the Vapi-Surat stretch span many rivers, including the Kharera, Kolak, Par, Auranga, Purna, Mindhola, Ambika, Kaveri, and Venganiya. These developments span several districts, including Valsad and Navsari.
In addition, three further river bridges outside this route have been completed: crossings over the Dhadhar River in Vadodara, the Mohar River in Kheda, and the Vatrak River in Kheda.
This feat demonstrates the continuous progress of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project, which will span a total corridor length of 508 kilometres, according to ANI.
