Residents of the MHADA Colony in Mumbai’s Mulund region, which is notorious for its traffic congestion, should expect respite soon. The neighbourhood, which is congested during morning and evening rush hours, frequently sees vehicles stuck in traffic for up to 25 minutes, with delays exceeding half an hour.
In response to these ongoing traffic challenges, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation is building a new missing link on the Eastern Motorway. This new road is expected to dramatically reduce travel times for local commuters, saving them between 15 and 20 minutes.
In addition to the new link, the Municipal Corporation has earmarked Rs 33.22 crore for the construction of two more roads in the Mulund region. The proposal for the transfer of Mithagar land, which is critical to this project, is currently in the final stages.
The Municipal Development Department submitted a request to the Centre for the assignment of this land, and authorities are certain that approval from the Mithagar Commissioner would be obtained soon.
The Mumbai Municipal Corporation has pledged to build a road that is 70 metres long and 18.3 metres broad as part of the development plan. The road department stated that construction would begin soon after acquiring the essential government clearances and finishing the procurement process.
With these upgrades on the horizon, Mulund residents may expect a more efficient and less congested commute experience.
