Mumbai Metro Line 3 To Extend BKC-Worli Section By March 2025

By late March 2025, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) plans to extend Metro Line 3 by launching the BKC to Acharya Atre Chowk, Worli segment (Phase 2A). The Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro 3 route, of which this extension is a part, is currently 93.1% complete overall, with station development approaching 98.9%.

The project follows the successful commissioning of the Aarey-BKC segment in October 2024. Although initial ridership on this stretch has been lower than expected, officials anticipate a significant surge once the entire Aarey-Colaba corridor becomes operational. In line with state government directives, the MMRC aims to complete the BKC-Worli section within 100 days, with system-related work currently at 85.8% completion.

The 33.5-kilometer Aqua Line is anticipated to improve Mumbai’s public transport system by linking important business areas and cutting travel times dramatically. Architectural improvements and securing necessary safety permits before to public launch are part of the latter stages of development.

Once fully operational, Metro Line 3 will enhance city-wide connectivity, decongest major transit routes, and provide a seamless, efficient commuting option for Mumbaikars.
