Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, handed over keys to 15 self-redeveloped housing societies in North Mumbai, reaffirming the government’s commitment to urban redevelopment and infrastructure development. Goyal assured full central support for Maharashtra’s initiatives, emphasising the goal of providing permanent housing for families currently residing in temporary structures.
Highlighting key infrastructure projects in North Mumbai, Goyal applauded the development of a 1000-bed hospital near Magathane metro station and the upcoming hospital in West Kandivali. He also commended Fadnavis’ leadership in driving major projects like the Coastal Road extension from Worli-Bandra to Versova and the proposed coastal road linking the new airport via Atal Sethu.
Addressing civic concerns, Goyal outlined measures to combat road damage through cement-concrete roads and improve sewage treatment, backed by a Rs 260 billion allocation. He further encouraged more housing societies to take up self-redevelopment, calling it a vital step toward sustainable urban growth and long-term security for residents.
