In her essay, she outlined several problems that the locals confront and noted that these “minor issues” had the potential to become catastrophic calamities. “Poor infrastructure planning poses risks to our health, safety, and public funds”.
She wrote, “Serious Health Hazard at IC Colony, Road No. 4!” and included all the information. In addition to being inconvenient, the continuous road construction in Mumbai is now directly threatening public health. A pollution situation has been recorded at IC Colony, Road No. 4, where careless digging and poor construction caused a sewer line to mix with the water main. Until the issue is fixed, the work has been suspended.
A user named X highlighted the numerous problems they are having because of potholes, manholes, and unforeseen road construction. She mentioned these issues and made four main remarks.
Sewer water in utility ducts: Two utility ducts have accumulated sewer water due to a significant leak, which could cause contamination and electrocution if utility wires are still in use.
Unfinished and misaligned ducts: Three ducts that should be in a straight line are curved, and one side lacks connection pipes. How will the cables be installed? Above? This is ill-prepared!
Storm Water Drain (SWD) connection missing: One side of this concrete road lacks a SWD provision, although having a 10-year defect liability period (DLP). Does this imply that there will be further excavation in the future? Were SWD comments taken into account at all when planning?
Tiny manholes: There are major safety concerns during emergencies since the manholes are too small for maintenance personnel to enter. How will they be applied in urgent circumstances?
Before it’s too late, the user asked the public to speak up. Additionally, she urged the authorities to ensure that the sewage system was implemented correctly, saying, “Mumbai residents, we must remain attentive! These ‘ minor difficulties’ have the potential to become huge catastrophes. Inadequate infrastructure planning jeopardises our tax dollars, safety, and health.
