Metro Line 14 would connect Kanjurmarg to Badlapur-Ambarnath, marking a significant expansion of Mumbai’s metro system. With its 38 km and 15 stations—13 elevated and one underground—the new line is set to completely transform Badlapur residents’ commutes.
Currently, travel between Badlapur and Mumbai takes 1.5 to 2 hours, but Metro Line 14 will drastically cut this time, providing a faster and more efficient transit option. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has initiated crucial steps for the project, including appointing a consultant to conduct an environmental impact assessment, as the route passes through sensitive regions such as Thane Creek and the Flamingo Sanctuary.
The detailed project report (DPR), prepared by IIT Bombay, has already been approved, with only the state government’s final clearance pending before construction begins. With an estimated investment of Rs 18,000 crore, the metro line is expected to break ground within a year.
Once operational, Metro Line 14 will offer a seamless, high-speed travel alternative for thousands of daily commuters, significantly enhancing connectivity between Mumbai and its expanding suburbs.
