The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is facing challenges in securing a consultant for its multimodal tunnel connectivity project, aimed at alleviating Mumbai’s traffic congestion. Despite holding pre-bid meetings where interested firms raised numerous queries, no bids have been submitted thus far.
An official associated with the project noted that such delays are common in large-scale initiatives, as companies require time to fully comprehend the scope and requirements.
The BMC initially invited bids in February 2024, reissued the tender in January 2025, and has now extended the submission deadline to 4 April 2025. Despite this setback, officials assert that other major infrastructure projects, including the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road, Versova-Dahisar Link Road, and the Dahisar-Mira Bhayandar connector, will proceed as planned.
