How Xpedeon’s Seema Vakharia Is Reimagining Construction with Cloud, AI & IoT

In a recent interview with TimesTech’s Kajal Mehra, Seema Vakharia, Chief Operating Officer of Xpedeon, shed light on how the company’s pivot to a cloud-based SaaS model, combined with AI, IoT, and ESG-aligned innovations, is redefining how technology supports the construction sector. As Xpedeon accelerates into new markets, it is also preparing to launch future-forward tools, including blockchain-backed systems and voice-enabled ERP platforms.

Reflecting on Xpedeon’s strategic shift post-2020, Vakharia said, “Our move to a cloud-based SaaS model was not just about modernisation—it was a response to a global mindset shift. The pandemic accelerated trust in cloud technologies, even in traditionally cautious markets like India, the Middle East, and the UK.”

The transformation was completed between March 2020 and March 2021, with no layoffs, as remote teams successfully migrated over 50 clients. According to Vakharia, the cloud transition also laid the foundation for Xpedeon’s global expansion into the US and Asia Pacific in 2024.

“We’ve simplified ERP adoption for construction firms and improved system accessibility—making us a more adaptable and scalable technology partner,” she added.

Xpedeon is actively leveraging AI and ML to optimise scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management in construction projects. Internally, the company has introduced AI into processes such as test development, code generation, and training automation.

“We’re preparing to roll out a next-gen AI model soon. Our aim is to push the envelope in how AI supports project lifecycles—from invoice matching to cost prediction,” said Vakharia.

Xpedeon’s ERP system now features IoT integration to provide real-time insights into material movement, equipment logs, and workforce tracking. The company uses RFID technology and automated weighbridge systems to eliminate manual entries and reduce operational friction.

“IoT integration has drastically improved the accuracy and speed of data collection. It’s a game-changer for decision-making and safety,” she noted.

Looking ahead, Xpedeon is investing in AI-driven automation that extends beyond chatbots to more immersive workflow enhancements. The company is also exploring blockchain for secure data validation, and voice-enabled ERP systems for hands-free, on-site reporting.

“We’re focusing on how blockchain can bring tamper-proof transparency to contracts, payments, and compliance. At the same time, voice-based ERP access will make on-site operations more fluid and intuitive,” said Vakharia.

With its bold innovations and adaptive vision, Xpedeon is cementing its reputation as a future-ready technology partner for the construction industry.
