MHADA CEO Reviews 100-Day Plan, Orders Swift Action On Redevelopment

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority’s (MHADA) vice president and chief executive officer, Sanjeev Jaiswal, reviewed the 100-day action plan in detail on Wednesday. Jaiswal gave authorities instructions to speed up departmental operations and guarantee the timely completion of important housing and redevelopment projects during the meeting.

The meeting focused on major redevelopment projects including those in Abhyudayanagar, Gandhinagar, Aaram Nagar, Patra Chawl, and the BDD Chawls. Housing developments for police colonies were also reviewed. Jaiswal instructed that tender processes be initiated without delay for Bandra Reclamation, Adarsh Nagar, and Worli colonies, in accordance with decisions taken by the Maharashtra state cabinet.

Efforts to resolve grievances, especially those brought up during Lokshahi Din, were also assessed. Six cases are still outstanding, but the majority of complaints have been settled. Jaiswal ordered that these problems be resolved right away. Updates were given regarding the rollout of a new Management Information System (MIS) for leasing agreement renewals and the distribution of MHADA’s master list.

Progress reports were also presented by the Mumbai Building Repairs and Reconstruction Board regarding ongoing work under Sections 91A and 79A/B. Land acquisition in Dadar, Mahim, and Prabhadevi was reviewed for status updates.

Digital transformation was another focus area, with Jaiswal assessing improvements in administrative tools and planning support systems. A demonstration of the newly upgraded MHADA website was also given, featuring the integration of a Chatbot designed to provide 24/7 citizen assistance. The CEO noted that these enhancements will significantly improve public access to MHADA services.

As part of the 100-day action plan, MHADA’s Mumbai Board held a Janata Darbar Din on Wednesday, where 72 public complaints were heard. These included concerns over low water pressure, unpaid property taxes and water charges by developers under DCR 33(7), and the demand for action against errant office bearers of housing societies. Additional issues raised included unauthorised construction, encroachment removal, waiver of maintenance charges for mill worker housing in Panvel’s Mouje Kon, and action against unauthorised hoardings on MHADA land.

The Mumbai Board’s Chief Officer, Milind Borikar, emphasised MHADA’s dedication to effective and responsive governance by ordering all involved authorities to address these complaints within seven days.
