Despite being ready, the Thane Creek Bridge-3, which connects Navi Mumbai and Mumbai, is still blocked because government approval has been delayed. Many commuters wonder if a grand opening ceremony is necessary because of the constant traffic jams. Officials said that after final testing is finished, the bridge will open. Though it is nearly finished, the Thane Creek Bridge-3’s Navi Mumbai-Mumbai lane, which connects Pune as well, is constantly delayed in its inauguration.
For others who must traverse lengthy traffic jams on other clogged major highways, this has caused frustration. Previously, commuters were anticipating the Creek Bridge’s inauguration on May 1, Maharashtra Day, with much excitement. However, they were let down when the authorities postponed the procedure because of city security concerns following the Pahalgam Terrorist Attack.
As commuters grow antsy, the Thane Creek Bridge-3 opening is critical right now. They question the need for a grand opening ceremony. Many passengers questioned why it was necessary to plan a celebration and invite political figures to cut the ribbon.
“Do political leaders really need to formally inauguration us? The extension of @MumbaiMetro3 to #worli is prepared. The #SmruddhiHighway between #Igatpuri and #Mumbai is prepared. The bridge over Thane Creek is complete. “Utilities are more important than plaques,” a social media user on X, formerly Twitter, remarked. For more over two months, the Thane Creek Bridge 3 (Vashi) Mumbai-bound arm has been clearly completed. It isn’t being inaugurated for some reason. Opening the bridge would help us escape the daily traffic problems we have. @MSRDCLtd @CIDCO_Ltd @mieknathshinde @Dev_Fadnavis,” another user commented.
“If inaugurations are such a big deal, the government could have even done it remotely,” a passenger told The Indian Express. Every day, people are stuck in traffic, and the bridge’s delayed opening is causing excessive inconvenience.
“These inaugurations are always scheduled at a moment that works for politics. Madhu Shankar, a city-based activist and member of the Human Chain Organisation, stated: “This bridge can fix a lot of the traffic in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, but there is no point just building it unless it is thrown open to the public.”
MSRDC managing director Anilkumar Gaikwad responded, “We are technically prepared, but a few tests are still pending,” in response to a question concerning the ongoing delay. We will proceed with the inauguration as soon as they are approved and we receive approval from the government,” the media outlet stated.
