Harbour Line Ticket Counter Relocated, New Facilities Unveiled

The local train ticket counter is being moved as part of the major structural alterations being made to Panvel railway station as part of its continuous expansion. To make way for the station’s renovation, which will include the construction of a dedicated freight lane and the expansion of the Harbour line up to Karjat, the original two-story ticket counter structure is scheduled to be removed.

The Central Railway management has built a new structure at the station’s entrance to guarantee commuters’ continuous convenience. “Starting Wednesday, the new ticket counter for customers on the Harbour line opened on the ground floor, providing a larger space. According to an official, the building’s first level is also anticipated to open shortly.

Additionally planned is a separate ticket counter for long-distance train travellers. For the convenience of commuters, the facility also has mobile charging stations. The second floor of the new structure will house the railway police office, which is now housed in a makeshift container cabin.
The move is a significant step towards Panvel’s long-term development as a significant regional railway hub.
