Mumbai’s Mira Road Metro Link to Launch by Year-End

An important step in enhancing the public transport system in the area will be taken by the end of the year when Mira Road, a heavily populated district on the outskirts of Mumbai, is connected via Metro. A new era of connectedness for locals and commuters alike will be ushered in by this development, which will witness the activation of overhead power lines and the start of train testing on May 10. A crucial part of this project is the opening of the Kashigaon Metro station, which will provide the local population with improved accessibility and convenience. It is located about 1.4 km east of the current Mira Road Western Railway (WR) station.

An important step in improving the area’s public transport system is the extension of Metro Line 9 through Kashigaon from Andheri-Dahisar to Mira Bhayandar. Red Line 7 will be extended by this new line, which would initially run directly from Andheri (WEH) to Kashigaon and then, in its second phase, extend to Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium in Bhayandar West. Initially, the line will inaugurate four stations – Dahisar, Pandurang Wadi, Miragaon, and Kashigaon – out of a total of eight, aiming to significantly reduce travel time and alleviate congestion on existing transportation modes.

The Mira Road WR station’s renovation is a component of a larger plan to handle the 1,31,764 daily commuters that are currently on the road. Recognizing the limitations of horizontal expansion, the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) is undertaking a comprehensive enhancement of the station’s infrastructure. In order to improve passenger flow and access throughout the station, this includes building a 158.50-meter-long and 10.70-meter-wide elevated deck in addition to new foot over bridges (FOBs) in the north and middle.
