Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat Faces Illegal Construction Claims; Manager Responds

June 21, 2025: Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s residence, Mannat, is once again in the news—this time over allegations of unauthorised construction. The iconic sea-facing bungalow, currently undergoing renovation, was visited by a joint team from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the forest department after a complaint was filed by activist Santosh Daundkar.

While the BMC team accompanied forest officials in a supportive capacity, the site inspection followed concerns about permissions related to ongoing work. A forest department official told The Times of India, “A team did carry out a site inspection as we received a complaint about renovation permissions. A report will be prepared based on the findings and submitted soon.”

However, Shah Rukh’s manager, Pooja Dadlani, refuted any wrongdoing, stating, “There are no complaints. All work is going on as per guidelines.”

Former IPS officer Y P Singh also weighed in, stating that Mannat originally included a heritage structure known as Villa Vienna, and that a seven-storey annex was added in 2005. He alleged that in order to circumvent the Urban Land Ceiling Act, 12 small flats were approved but later merged into a single luxury residence for Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan, who designed the interiors. Singh accused the owners of misusing housing policy and urged authorities to restore the flats in accordance with legal provisions.

With Mannat undergoing renovation, Shah Rukh and his family — Gauri, Aryan, Suhana and AbRam — have temporarily relocated to Puja Casa, a luxurious residential building in Bandra’s Pali Hill, owned by film producer Vashu Bhagnani.

Despite the inspection, no official violation has been confirmed as yet. Authorities have assured that all permits and documentation will be reviewed in due course.
