CM Devendra Fadnavis Instructs MAHAPREIT To Focus On High-Impact Infrastructure Projects

July 4, 2025: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited (MAHAPREIT) to prioritise and expedite impactful infrastructure projects that are future-ready and sustainable.

Chairing a comprehensive review meeting at Vidhan Bhavan, Fadnavis emphasised the need for MAHAPREIT, a subsidiary of the Mahatma Phule Backward Class Development Corporation under the Department of Social Justice and Special Assistance, to focus on long-lasting, sector-specific initiatives. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat, Minister of State Madhuri Misal, and Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar were also present.

Several key projects were reviewed during the meeting, including the Thane Cluster Development Project, a Software Technology and Data Centre, the PM Awas Yojana under Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation, and a Slum Rehabilitation Project. Additionally, renewable energy initiatives such as Rooftop Solar for MSMEs, solar and hybrid ventures with NTPC Green, SECI and NIRL, and a solar installation at the National Cancer Institute in Nagpur were assessed.

Other urban development efforts, such as the District Cooling System Project, an Integrated Command and Control Centre for Pune Municipal Corporation, and the redevelopment of the Mahalaxmi Temple precinct, were also discussed.

Both the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister expressed satisfaction with the ongoing progress. Fadnavis, however, stressed that slum rehabilitation initiatives must be completed at an accelerated pace. He advised the agency to move away from working across too many sectors and instead develop deep expertise in select priority areas.

Senior officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Asimkumar Gupta, Principal Secretaries K.H. Govindrajan, Saurabh Vijay, Atul Patne, Dr. Harshdeep Kamble, and MAHAPREIT’s Managing Director Bipin Shrimali, were in attendance.
