September 25, 2025: Mahindra Lifespace Developers Limited (MLDL), the real estate and urban development arm of the Mahindra Group, has announced its selection for two major society redevelopment projects in Chembur, Mumbai. Together, the projects carry a combined development potential of nearly ₹1,700 crore, underscoring the growing momentum in Mumbai’s redevelopment market.
The two societies cover approximately 2.6 acres and 1.8 acres of land respectively. Once complete, the projects are expected to deliver modern residences designed around sustainability, advanced features, and improved community amenities. According to the company, the ventures are aligned with its strategy to focus on high-demand urban locations, where redevelopment offers both growth opportunities and enhanced living standards.
Commenting on the announcement, Vimalendra Singh, Chief Business Officer – Residential at MLDL, stated that redevelopment continues to be an integral pillar of the firm’s growth plans. He highlighted the trust placed by the societies in selecting Mahindra Lifespace, noting the company’s commitment to contributing meaningfully to Chembur’s ongoing transformation.
Both projects are located in Chembur’s Diamond Garden area, a neighbourhood well regarded for its strategic connectivity to Mumbai’s business districts and eastern suburbs. The sites are situated just 1.5 kilometres from the Eastern Freeway, providing swift access to Navi Mumbai, Thane, and other key city corridors. Upcoming infrastructure developments such as the Diamond Garden Metro Station on Line 2, alongside proximity to the Monorail and suburban railway networks, further enhance the area’s appeal.
With its closeness to prominent commercial hubs like Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and Powai, the redevelopment is poised to add significant value to Chembur’s residential landscape. Industry analysts believe that recent policy changes boosting redevelopment potential will make such projects increasingly important in reshaping Mumbai’s urban fabric.
