CIDCO To Build Rs 28-Crore Fire Station In Kamothe To Boost Navi Mumbai’s Emergency Response

October 31, 2025: In response to the rapid population growth across Navi Mumbai and Panvel, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has announced plans to build the region’s largest and most advanced fire station in Kamothe. The facility, estimated to cost Rs 28 crore, will come up on a 7,000-square-metre plot owned by the Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC).

The municipal administration has approved the expenditure based on a detailed project design, with construction scheduled to begin after the tendering process concludes. Strategically located opposite Mansarovar Railway Station and just eight kilometres from the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport, the new fire station aims to ensure faster emergency response across high-density residential and high-rise zones.

According to a report by Saamana, the Kamothe centre will house a joint control room shared by CIDCO, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC), and PMC. Senior fire officials from all three agencies will operate from this integrated command facility to strengthen coordination in emergency and disaster management.

Once operational, the Kamothe fire station will deploy two modern fire tenders and a 40-member trained team. Currently, the Panvel Fire Brigade manages 16 tenders and 158 personnel, and the new facility is expected to increase manpower by another 40 to 50 firefighters.

At present, PMC owns a fire engine that can reach up to the seventh floor, while CIDCO and NMMC operate equipment capable of spraying water up to the 22nd floor. Additionally, procurement for three high-tech fire tenders is underway to boost regional readiness.

The upcoming Kamothe fire station is set to become a key safety hub for Navi Mumbai and Panvel, enhancing response times, coordination, and protection for residents in one of Maharashtra’s fastest-growing urban zones.
