Connectivity to the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport has been enhanced with the completion of the 2.7-km-long Route-9 stilt bridge, developed by City and Industrial Development Corporation as part of its broader infrastructure push.
The newly commissioned bridge runs parallel to the airport’s infrastructure corridor alignment and is designed to improve access from the eastern side of Navi Mumbai. By linking directly with the Sion-Panvel Highway, the structure is expected to provide a more seamless route for commuters travelling to and from the airport zone.

Spanning 2.7 kilometres, the elevated corridor has been developed to streamline connectivity not only to the airport but also to key regional routes leading towards Panvel, Pune, and Goa. This is expected to strengthen the overall transport network in the region, particularly for those approaching from eastern corridors.
Route-9 is considered a key component in the larger connectivity framework being developed around the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The project is part of a series of infrastructure initiatives aimed at ensuring efficient access to the airport once it becomes operational.

Officials note that the bridge will play an important role in easing vehicular congestion by offering an additional high-capacity route. It is also expected to support smoother movement of both passenger and cargo traffic, improving overall transport efficiency in the region.
The development aligns with ongoing efforts to build a robust, multi-modal connectivity network around Navi Mumbai. With improved road access and strategic linkages to major highways, the new stilt bridge is likely to enhance regional mobility and support future urban and economic growth linked to the airport.
