Commuters on Western Railway’s suburban network are set to face temporary disruptions as night blocks have been scheduled between April 25 and 26 to facilitate key infrastructure work linked to Metro Line 6.
The railway authorities announced that a major block will be undertaken between Ram Mandir railway station and Jogeshwari railway station for the installation of steel girders for the metro corridor. The work is expected to continue for nearly 10 hours, beginning at 10:15 pm on April 25 and concluding at 8:15 am on April 26.

In addition to the girder installation, the blocks will also support other infrastructure upgrades, including foot overbridge work and ongoing expansion activities on the sixth railway line. Railway officials confirmed that maintenance operations will impact multiple tracks, with a separate shorter block planned on the up fast line between 2:05 am and 4:05 am.

Several train services will be affected during this period. The last Churchgate–Virar local scheduled at 1:00 am on April 25 will be cancelled, making the 12:50 am service the final train on that route for the night. On April 26, the first train departing from Virar will leave at 3:40 am but will operate only up to Goregaon and run on the slow line.

Long-distance services, including trains originating from Okha and Bhuj, are also expected to be rescheduled, with delays of up to an hour.

Railway authorities have advised passengers to check updated schedules and plan their journeys accordingly. Officials emphasised that these blocks are essential to support ongoing infrastructure development, particularly the progress of Metro Line 6, which aims to enhance connectivity across Mumbai.
