Mumbai Vs Dubai: Viral Video Sparks Debate Over Property Prices & Urban Living Standards

A social media video by Dubai-based content creator Zaki Mogra has ignited a debate online after he compared Mumbai’s high real estate prices with the overall living experience in Dubai. His observations have prompted mixed reactions, with users weighing in on whether Mumbai’s property market offers value for money.

Mogra, who recently spent four days in Mumbai, shared his impressions in an Instagram video, highlighting the contrast between premium property prices and the surrounding urban infrastructure. He noted that while Mumbai ranks among the most expensive cities globally for real estate—sometimes even exceeding prices in parts of London—the external environment does not always reflect that cost.

“So I’ve been in Mumbai for the last four days and honestly, it’s made me realise how lucky we are to live in Dubai,” he said.

Expanding on the comparison, he added, “Mumbai is one of the most expensive cities in the world to buy property. Some apartments here are pricier per square foot than parts of central London. But when you actually step outside the building, the surroundings, they just don’t match what you’re paying for.”

Mogra contrasted this with Dubai’s urban planning, pointing to its transport systems, public spaces, roads, and educational infrastructure as examples of a more cohesive and lifestyle-oriented development model. “Now think about Dubai. Everything being built there is genuinely designed to make life better. The metro, the parks, beaches, the schools, the roads. It feels like the city is being built around you and not the other way around,” he said.

He also highlighted Dubai’s flexible property buying options, where staggered payment plans can ease the burden of large upfront investments. “Dubai isn’t just a nice place to live. It’s honestly one of the only cities in the world where the lifestyle, the infrastructure, and the way you can actually get into the property market all line up. That’s rare, and I think a lot of people are sleeping on it,” he added.

The video has since drawn divided opinions, with some users agreeing with his critique, while others dismissed it as an oversimplified comparison between two very different cities.
