CM Fadnavis Meets PM Modi, Reviews Maharashtra Infrastructure & Development Projects

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss key issues related to the state’s development, infrastructure expansion and ongoing projects.

Following the meeting, Fadnavis shared details on social media platform X, stating that he updated the Prime Minister on the progress of several major works and initiatives currently underway across Maharashtra. He also said that he sought guidance from PM Modi on multiple matters concerning the state’s future growth and development agenda.

“Called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi today. Sought his guidance on various subjects on Maharashtra’s development. I also briefed him on the progress and status of many works and projects of Maharashtra,” Fadnavis said in the post.

The Chief Minister described the interaction as encouraging and expressed gratitude after the meeting.

“Meeting the Prime Minister is always motivating and invokes positive energy. Very grateful,” he added.

While the exact projects discussed during the meeting were not officially disclosed, the interaction comes at a time when Maharashtra is pursuing several large-scale infrastructure and urban development initiatives across sectors including transport, housing, industry and agriculture.

Earlier on Wednesday, Fadnavis also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss concerns related to Maharashtra’s sugar cooperative sector and onion farmers. Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Chief Minister said discussions focused on increasing the Minimum Support Price (MSP), enhancing the ethanol quota and loan restructuring measures for the sugar industry.

“A positive discussion took place. Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that a positive decision will be taken regarding raising the MSP (Minimum Support Price), increasing the ethanol quota, and loan restructuring. The MSP will be increased. The ethanol quota will be increased. A proposal has been requested regarding ethanol. If approved, the issues faced by sugar mill owners will be resolved,” he said.

On the onion sector, Fadnavis said the state government had urged the Centre to increase onion procurement by NAFED from 2 lakh tonnes to 10 lakh tonnes and sought higher procurement prices for farmers.

“Our demand is that NAFED should procure 10 lakh tonnes instead of 2 lakh tonnes. Measures have been suggested to keep onion prices stable. The procurement price for onions has been increased to Rs15.80. A demand has been made on how this can be increased further,” he said.
