Central Railway will carry out a mega block on its Main and Harbour suburban railway corridors on Sunday, July 12, to undertake essential maintenance and engineering work. The block will impact train services on both routes, with several local trains being diverted, suspended or cancelled during the scheduled period.
On the Main line, the block will be in force on the Up and Down slow lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Vidyavihar from 10.55 am to 3.55 pm.
During this period, Down slow services departing CSMT between 10.48 am and 3.45 pm will be diverted to the Down fast line between CSMT and Vidyavihar. These trains will halt at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion and Kurla before returning to the slow line at Vidyavihar.
Similarly, Up slow services leaving Ghatkopar between 10.19 am and 3.52 pm will operate via the Up fast line between Vidyavihar and CSMT, stopping at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel and Byculla stations before reaching their destination.
On the Harbour line, services will be suspended between CSMT and Chunabhatti/Bandra due to maintenance work. The Down corridor will remain closed from 11.40 am to 4.40 pm, while the Up corridor will be blocked from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm.
As a result, Harbour line trains from CSMT towards Vashi, Belapur and Panvel departing between 11.16 am and 4.47 pm will remain cancelled. Services from CSMT to Bandra and Goregaon scheduled between 10.48 am and 4.43 pm will also not operate.
In the opposite direction, trains for CSMT departing from Panvel, Belapur and Vashi between 9.53 am and 3.20 pm, along with services from Goregaon and Bandra between 10.45 am and 5.13 pm, will remain suspended.
To reduce inconvenience, Central Railway will operate special train services between Panvel and Kurla (Platform No. 8) every 20 minutes during the block period. Harbour line commuters will also be permitted to travel on Main Line and Western Railway services between 10 am and 6 pm.
Railway authorities said the block is necessary to carry out infrastructure maintenance and ensure safe operations, while advising passengers to plan their journeys.
