Window Magic Supports BDD Chawls Redevelopment With Over 61,000 Aluminium Window Installations

Window Magic has strengthened its presence in Mumbai’s large-scale housing redevelopment sector by supplying advanced aluminium fenestration systems for the historic BDD Chawls redevelopment project, regarded as one of Asia’s largest urban renewal initiatives.

Originally built in the 1920s, the BDD Chawls are being redeveloped into modern high-rise residential towers under a project led by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority. The redevelopment aims to replace ageing low-rise chawls comprising compact 150–160 sq ft homes with 33 contemporary towers rising up to 40 storeys.

Once completed, the project is expected to create nearly 8,976 upgraded housing units with improved infrastructure, enhanced safety standards and better living conditions for thousands of residents in central Mumbai.

As part of the redevelopment, Window Magic is supplying and installing more than 61,875 aluminium window units across the project. The company stated that the fenestration systems are designed to offer durability, energy efficiency and modern aesthetics suitable for large-scale urban housing developments.

Manish Bansal said, “We are honoured to contribute to the landmark redevelopment of the historic BDD Chawls in Worli- one of the most significant urban renewal projects in India. This transformation represents a new chapter in Mumbai’s housing landscape, replacing decades-old structures with modern, safe, and sustainable high-rise residences for thousands of families.”

He further added, “We sincerely thank the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority for entrusting Window Magic with the responsibility of delivering high-quality aluminium fenestration solutions for this prestigious project.”

The redevelopment is being executed in phases, with the first phase consisting of eight towers expected to be completed by May 2026. The second phase, comprising 25 towers, is tentatively scheduled for completion by April 2030.

Apart from the BDD Chawls project, Window Magic has been associated with several major residential, commercial and institutional developments across India. The company has worked with organisations such as DRDO, NBCC and Indian Oil, along with multiple real estate developers and hospitality brands nationwide.

The project highlights the growing role of advanced construction and façade technologies in Mumbai’s evolving urban redevelopment landscape.
