MMRDA Partners with Tech Entrepreneurs to Boost AI and Innovation Ecosystem

In a major step towards establishing the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) as a global hub for artificial intelligence and innovation, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Tech Entrepreneurs Association of Mumbai (TEAM) during Mumbai Tech Week 2026.

In the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, MMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TEAM. The agreement was formalised in the presence of TEAM co-founders Akrit Vaish and Harsh Jain.

The collaboration aims to create a robust ecosystem for startups, innovation, and AI-led growth by bringing together MMRDA’s planning and infrastructure expertise with TEAM’s network of 85 successful technology entrepreneurs.

As part of the partnership, both organisations will undertake initiatives such as AI-focused job fairs, hackathons, investor connect programmes, development of global capability centres, and the adoption of international best practices. The initiative is also expected to support key projects, including Maharashtra Innovation City and Mumbai 3.0.

The joint effort will focus on sectors such as artificial intelligence, fintech, mobility technology, urban analytics, and smart city development, with the broader objective of attracting investment, fostering innovation, and positioning MMR as a leading global technology destination.
