CIDCO’s latest affordable housing scheme in Navi Mumbai has received a strong response, with 4,180 applicants expressing confirmed interest in 4,793 homes, according to an official statement issued on Monday.
The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) launched the scheme on August 15, offering homes for eligible applicants from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) across Taloja, Kharghar and Kalamboli. The booking window closed on September 3.
CIDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director Ashwin Mudgal said the strong participation reflected the continued aspiration of citizens to own homes in Navi Mumbai and their confidence in the region’s planned development.
He said CIDCO would continue to focus on providing affordable and quality housing in well-planned locations, allowing residents to benefit from the region’s expanding infrastructure and improving connectivity.
PMAY-U Subsidy Could Further Reduce Cost
Eligible beneficiaries under the scheme can also avail themselves of a Rs 2.5 lakh subsidy through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U), subject to the applicable eligibility conditions and government guidelines.
The subsidy is available until September 2026 and could provide additional financial assistance to qualifying applicants purchasing homes under the scheme.
CIDCO published the draft list of lottery participants on September 4 through its CIDCO Homes portal. Applicants can submit objections to the provisional list until September 8, while the final list is scheduled to be released on September 10.
Details regarding subsequent stages of the lottery, including further procedures for selected applicants, will be announced through the official CIDCO Homes platform.
Demand for Affordable Housing Remains Strong
The latest response highlights sustained demand for reasonably priced housing in Navi Mumbai, particularly in emerging locations with improving transport and civic infrastructure.
Taloja, Kharghar and Kalamboli have witnessed significant development in recent years, with better road connectivity and expanding urban infrastructure strengthening their appeal among homebuyers seeking alternatives to more expensive parts of Mumbai.
The scheme is part of CIDCO’s broader effort to expand access to formal and affordable housing while supporting planned urban growth across Navi Mumbai.
With the number of confirmed applicants close to the total number of homes offered, the response also underlines the continuing gap between demand for affordable housing and available supply in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
