Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has acquired 3.86 acres of land in Lonavala near Mumbai for approximately Rs 70 crore, according to property registration data accessed by Zapkey.
The transaction was registered through three separate conveyance deeds on September 4, 2026, covering multiple land parcels and an existing built-up structure measuring around 2,100 sq ft in Lonavala.
According to the registration documents, the three transactions together involved a total consideration of around Rs 70 crore. The largest parcel, measuring approximately 3.09 acres, was purchased for Rs 63.69 crore. The second parcel was acquired for Rs 4.56 crore, while the third transaction amounted to Rs 1.75 crore.
Tendulkar acquired 100% ownership of the 3.09-acre parcel, while he purchased a 50% undivided share in each of the other two properties.
The properties were purchased from Nandan Dhananjay Mehta and Vivaswat Dhananjay Mehta, according to the documents. The transactions involved approximately 15,601.78 sq m, equivalent to nearly 1.68 lakh sq ft or 3.86 acres.
The registration records show that Rs 4.20 crore was paid as stamp duty, while registration fees amounted to Rs 90,000. Based on the overall transaction value and area, the blended effective rate works out to around Rs 4,168 per sq ft, according to Zapkey.
An email seeking a response was sent to Tendulkar’s representative, while the sellers could not be reached for comment.
Tendulkar Family’s Previous Property Deal
The latest acquisition follows another property transaction involving the Tendulkar family. In May 2025, Anjali Tendulkar, Sachin Tendulkar’s wife, reportedly purchased a 391-sq-ft apartment in Virar for ₹32 lakh for a staff member.
According to property registration documents, the apartment is located on the third floor of Peninsula Heights in Virar.
Why Lonavala Attracts High-Value Buyers
Located around 100 km from Mumbai and 60 km from Pune, Lonavala is among Maharashtra’s most popular weekend destinations, particularly during the monsoon and winter months.
The hill station has also developed into a prominent second-home market, attracting high-net-worth individuals, celebrities, NRIs and buyers from Mumbai, Pune and Gujarat.
Real estate activity in Lonavala largely centres on ready-to-move-in villas, followed by bare-shell villas and land parcels. Buyers typically look at the region for villas, farmhouses and bungalows, with its proximity to Mumbai and Pune adding to its appeal.
Tendulkar’s latest purchase adds another high-profile transaction to Lonavala’s expanding luxury and second-home real estate market.
