The Palghar district administration has introduced a dedicated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) portal to improve the coordination, allocation and monitoring of corporate funding for development initiatives across the district.
The platform was launched under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan during the ‘Viksit Palghar: An Alliance for Development’ conclave at Govardhan EcoVillage in Wada taluka. It aims to connect companies, government departments and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) through a transparent system for identifying local requirements and implementing projects.
Palghar Collector and District Magistrate Dr Indu Rani Jakhar said the initiative would help align corporate investments with the district’s development priorities and ensure that contributions produce measurable results.
The programme focuses on six sectors: healthcare, education, skill development and livelihoods, water management, agriculture and renewable energy. Surveys conducted by government departments over recent months have documented local needs and potential projects, allowing companies to identify suitable initiatives and monitor their progress.
Senior participants included Praveen Pardeshi, Chief Executive Officer of the Maharashtra Institution for Transformation; P.K. Siddharth Ramkumar, Project Officer, Jawhar; Rahul Mhatre from the Chief Minister’s Office; and Gaurang Das, Director of Govardhan EcoVillage. Dr Navaljit Kapoor, corporate representatives, NGOs and district officials also attended.
Dedicated cell to simplify implementation
A District CSR Cell has been established at the Collector’s Office to act as a single point of contact for companies. It will assist with permissions, departmental coordination and project execution, helping reduce administrative delays.
The initiative also seeks to combine corporate contributions with government-funded infrastructure. For example, CSR support could equip government-built schools with science laboratories and digital learning facilities, provide diagnostic equipment to healthcare centres, or strengthen water conservation and maintenance programmes.
Emphasis on inclusive growth
With major projects such as Vadhvan Port, the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train corridor, the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway and the Tarapur industrial area expected to create economic opportunities, the administration aims to extend development benefits to local and tribal communities.
Priorities include youth training, education, farmers’ market access, water availability and women’s economic empowerment. The programme also seeks to preserve Warli art, tribal traditions and Palghar’s natural heritage.
The administration hopes the initiative will offer a replicable model for coordinated, transparent and community-focused development under the broader vision of Viksit Maharashtra.
