Mumbai’s first underground metro is scheduled to open in July – View the schedule, stations, route, and other details

Mumbai is preparing for the groundbreaking of its first underground metro line in July, which would bring about a revolutionary expansion of its transit system. This new metro line, which runs 33.5 km below the crowded city streets, is expected to greatly reduce traffic congestion. With this enormous project, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation hopes to alleviate the city’s ongoing traffic problems, having committed over Rs 37,000 crores.

The subterranean metro project consists of a 33.5-kilometer tube that starts at Aarey Colony and spans 27 stations, 26 of which are underground. A 56-kilometer stretch of tunnel construction was started in 2017, however it was put on hold because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
