The Dharavi Redevelopment Project suggests buying 27 acres from BEST and MMRDA

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has been approached by the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRPPL) to lease 15 acres of property in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) for a period of five years. Regarding this, the MMRDA received a letter from the Dharavi Rehabilitation Project’s (DRP) deputy collector. He stated in the letter that heavy machinery required for the rehabilitation project needs to be stored on this area, which was formerly a casting yard for Metro Works, at commercial rates.

Furthermore, DRPPL has asked the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) project for 12 acres of land. This comprises two sizable bus terminals with a total parking capacity of about 300 buses in Sion East, Dharavi, and Kalakilla. The BEST transport division, the power supply division offices, the staff housing for sixty people, and the facilities for drivers and conductors are also located in these sites.
