Mumbai’s Changing Coastal Roads and Metro Infrastructure

The vast 6,328 square kilometre Mumbai Metropolitan Region is undergoing a makeover that extends beyond its famous sites and tall skyscrapers. Mumbai, also referred to as the “City of Dreams,” is presently experiencing large-scale infrastructural upgrades that could drastically alter the city’s terrain.

The city is about to enter a new era with developments like international airport expansions, bridges, underground metros, and coastal roadways. These projects, which are a part of a USD 30 billion infrastructure renovation, are likely to significantly alter Mumbai.
