Residents’ association of Dharavi haven’t given their consent to the survey

Mapping of the densely populated Dharavi is the first step and a crucial one, for the redevelopment of over 600 + acres, which is likely to take over five years to complete. A newly formed association of residents of Dharavi has vowed its support to the ongoing state government-led survey of informal tenements, a precursor to the USD 3 billion Dharavi redevelopment project by the Adani Group. Later the association dismissed these claims and said that they were misquoted. The association clarified that they were opposing this survey and their demand is complete transparency.

The survey had began on March 18, 2024, by DRP, a Maharashtra government department along with Dharavi Redevelopment Project Private Ltd (DRPPL) and completed 10,000 tenements while counting has been done on more than 21,000 tenements, including residential, commercial tenements and religious structures across Dharavi.
