Five-Tower Station Complex Set to Redefine Andheri’s Skyline

Five tall commercial buildings will rise on the east side of the busy Andheri station, giving the city’s skyline a more contemporary appearance. This reconstruction aims to combine railway, commercial, and retail activities above the station to create a structure akin to those found in Navi Mumbai.

Together with the renovated Gokhale bridge, the new station complex will eventually be a significant centre for intermodal connectivity, including the Metro. The Rail Land Development Authority has selected Stapati Architects to design the station, which will be constructed in two stages. The first phase includes a foot overbridge with a station and concourse area of 2.42 lakh square feet.

A 5.78 lakh square foot commercial transit-oriented building with three levels of underground parking will be added in phase two.

The reconstruction of the station, according to Western Railway officials, includes multimodal integration with the Blue Line 1 Metro passing through here, five towers with three basement-level parking, and connected office complexes.

The proposed 22,050 square metre concourse that seamlessly connects the east and west side station buildings will serve as a busy interchange for several forms of transportation. Foot-over bridges with and without tickets will be separated. The parking lot will span 60,958.89 square meters and include three levels.

53,160 square meters will be occupied by the five commercial towers, including 11,755.52 square meters devoted to railway offices. According to sources, the Andheri station has a very high passenger volume, with over seven lakh people using it during rush hour.
