The aviary will have several themed areas, such as the USA Zone, Australia Zone, and Africa Zone, each of which will be devoted to preserving native bird species. Mumbai will welcome its first bird park within two years. According to The Indian Express, the park will be situated in Nahur, in the eastern suburbs of the city, and will span 17,150 square meters.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will construct the park in addition to the Byculla Zoo. The aviary will house both native and exotic bird species and provide Mumbai residents with a verdant green area that includes a jogging track, basketball and volleyball courts, and a sports arena.
The aviary will have several themed areas, such as the USA Zone, Australia Zone, and Africa Zone, each of which will be devoted to preserving native bird species. To improve their experience, ornithologists and bird watchers will also have access to an interpretive centre.
The aviary will house up to 22 bird species, including the black swan, toco toucan, and white peafowl, according to BMC zoology department officials. An estimated Rs 100 crore would be spent on the aviary’s design and construction. According to civic officials, the park should be finished by 2027.
Last year, the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) approved the BMC’s plan to purchase more bird species. By late December or early January, a second plan that outlines the park’s layout is anticipated to be approved.
