Thane Creek Bridge: Mumbai-Bound Section to Open by February

The link between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai is expected to be transformed by significant infrastructure development. By February, the Thane Creek Bridge’s (also called Vashi Bridge) Mumbai-bound segment is expected to open, increasing the corridor’s capacity to 12 lanes.

This comes after the Navi Mumbai-bound segment opened on October 13. The last finishing touches, such as crash barriers, lighting, and electrical systems, are almost finished. When the bridge is in use, the 64,300 cars that go over it every day will have easier journeys.

The twin bridges, which flank the old 1997 structure, were built by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) as part of a Rs 559 crore project to handle the increasing traffic caused by Navi Mumbai’s rapid expansion. The famous bridge from 1973, which has long been off-limits to normal traffic for safety reasons, is nonetheless used for nostalgic Bollywood filmmaking.

The connection of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region would be greatly improved by this development, which will ease traffic and make travelling between Mumbai and Navi Mumbai easier.
