A massive renovation project has begun in Mumbai’s Worli to revitalize a highly crowded region. The project would rehouse 3,200 eligible families from three slum settlements—Jivan Jyot Nagar, Shree Swami Vivekanand Nagar, and Mata Ramabai Nagar—and PAPs from Veer Jijamata Nagar. It will take place on 17 acres on Dr. E Moses Road. The mixed-use project, which was created by Valour Estate, Lokhandwala Infrastructure, and Prestige Group under the SRA program, consists of a hotel, a mall, residential towers, and free-sale apartments.
The 405 square-foot flats that residents would receive will be more than the typical SRA allotment. A playground, a solid waste facility, and a sewerage treatment plant are examples of civic amenities. Rents between ₹22,000 and ₹32,000 per month will help families while they move. Construction will begin in late 2025 and be finished in six years. The project, which was delayed for 25 years because of legal concerns, is now on track to raise thousands of people’s standards of living thanks to the 2023 acquisition by Prestige Group.
A portion of the property will be set aside for essential civic infrastructure as part of the reconstruction, which will also prioritise sustainable urban planning. The project, which intends to modernise Worli while addressing housing shortages and promoting community well-being, is designed to create a balanced urban environment.
