Maharashtra Plans Cable Car Project To Boost Aerial Transport In MMR

At a forthcoming meeting of transport ministers in Delhi on Tuesday, Maharashtra’s Pratap Sarnaik is scheduled to propose a cable car project in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari will preside over the meeting, which is a component of the conversation about the ambitious Developed India 2047 plan.

The Central Government’s Parvatmala Project, which aims to expand aerial ropeway services, includes Sarnaik’s plan to alleviate regional congestion. “The cable car project will provide an aerial substitute for conventional public transportation, reducing traffic while protecting the area’s natural and cultural heritage,” Sarnaik stated.

With an emphasis on protecting important natural and cultural assets like Elephanta Caves, Matheran, and Sanjay Gandhi National Park, the proposed cable car system will supplement the current road, rail, and metro infrastructure.

Feasibility studies and Development Plan Reports (DPRs) will be created when the proposal is approved to guarantee the project’s seamless execution.
