Deputy CM Shinde Promises Housing Policy After Inspecting Six Redevelopment Projects

On Thursday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited six redevelopment projects in Mumbai’s Prabhadevi neighbourhood.

Shinde chaired a review program at Shivaji Park’s Swatantryaveer Savarkar Auditorium on the upcoming renovation of the Dadar, Mahim, and Prabhadevi divisions following the projects’ inspection.

In addition to many people of Prabhadevi, Mahim, and Dadar regions, the conference was attended by Sada Sarvankar, President of the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir Trust, Milind Saundkar of SRA, and other public figures.

According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA), Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA), Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO), and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will all work together to carry out the mass redevelopment plan.

“The government is dedicated to providing average Mumbaikars with a large home. With this extensive renovation, basic amenities including open spaces, gardens, and medical facilities will be available. The administration will release a housing policy shortly. According to him, this will entail the provision of inexpensive rental housing through MHADA as well as housing for working women, seniors, students, mill workers, and others.

Shinde added that developers who abandoned rehabilitation projects in the middle and neglected to pay rent to the inhabitants would be kicked out. “We will also amend the laws and regulations if necessary to give the general public access to reasonably priced, roomy homes. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis would be consulted before a decision is made in this regard. Mass redevelopment will speed up the stalled redevelopment projects. In a similar vein, Thane has also launched a community development initiative. He emphasised that everyone has the ambition of owning a lovely, roomy home at some point in their lives, saying, “All the challenges encountered while implementing the collective redevelopment plan will be eliminated.”

Shinde visited the Siddhivinayak temple before to starting the inspection of the six group rehabilitation projects in Prabhadevi.

He added that Rs 500 crore has been allocated for the temple’s development plan, which will be carried out. According to him, the temple’s renovation will give Ganpati worshippers additional amenities and put an end to the discomfort they have been experiencing.
