On Monday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis ordered the rapid completion of important growth hub projects for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s (MMR) development.
In order to raise the region’s GDP to $300 billion by 2030, the MMR Growth Hub is essential. In order to do this, a number of initiatives have been started, and it is crucial that their advancement be expedited,” CM Fadnavis stated.
Senior officials from several departments attended a meeting of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Growth Hub Regulatory Board, which was led by the chief minister. Sujata Saunik, the chief secretary, gave a summary of the current initiatives pertaining to the Growth Hub.
Fadnavis stressed the need for significant contributions from industries, housing, urban development, tourism, and environmental management to establish MMR as a significant growth hub. The many projects that have been started must adhere to international standards. They must have a dedicated war room and dashboard for close monitoring and progress tracking,” he stated. To address any issues impeding project execution, the CM also suggested assembling a team.
In September 2024, the final report detailing the development of the MMR Growth Hub was completed. Since then, the effort has been discussed at eight meetings, leading to the creation of 37 initiatives, eight policies, and 19 government decisions. These projects are being carried out by seven agencies.
One of the Growth Hub’s noteworthy initiatives is the Goregaon Film City project, which aims to draw in a number of international studios.
