The construction of the bullet train’s origin station at BKC in Mumbai is moving quickly forward, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s statement on Saturday.
Vaishnaw inspected the subterranean station’s on-ground development while it was still under construction at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
He was joined by representatives from Central Railway and Western Railway as well as officials from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), which is in charge of building the more than 500-kilometer Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project. According to him, the station walls have been strengthened and the lowest B3 basement level has been finished.
“Work at the BKC origin station for the bullet train is moving along at a very quick pace. “The tunnel project is moving very quickly at the same time that the station wall construction has begun,” the Railway Minister informed reporters.
According to him, all active construction in the Maharashtra segment is proceeding quickly after the land acquisition, except for the tunnel component (Shil Phata). He stated that the BKC station will have a multi-story building.
The B1 through B3 levels will house the operational areas. The B1 ground level will service passengers, the B2 will contain operational activities, and the B3 will be used as a train parking space. The construction of this world-class station is already underway,” he continued.
According to NHSRCL officials, over 76% of the excavation work at the BKC bullet train station is finished. The Minister left for Pune after the inspection, where he was expected to sign off on two long-distance trains later that night.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor project is expected to cost Rs 1.08 lakh crore in total. According to the shareholding arrangement, the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra will each pay Rs 5,000 crore, while the Indian government will invest Rs 10,000 crore. A loan from Japan at an interest rate of 0.1% will supply the remaining funds.
Last Monday, Devendra Fadnavis, the chief minister of Maharashtra, declared that the ambitious bullet train project would be operational by 2028.
