The Amrit 2.0 project’s tertiary treatment plant in sector 12 of the central business district of Belapur is being expedited to completion under the direction of NMMC Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde. For non-potable applications, such as irrigating road dividers, tree belts, and gardens in the Belapur division, the plant will recycle wastewater.
Depending on demand, recycled water will also be made accessible for motor vehicles, gardening, beautification initiatives, and building in public housing societies. 21 kilometres of a 23-kilometer pipeline have already been laid in Belapur. The Commissioner ordered the construction to be finished by May 31 and then conducted a trial run after inspecting the project. By July 31, the renovation is expected to be finished.
Dr. Shinde also oversaw the construction of a protective wall surrounding the project site and the delineation of the entire site. Additionally, he recommended that trees be planted beside the site’s highways.
In keeping with NMMC’s environmentally friendly endeavours, this project, which is a component of the Amrit 2.0 plan, intends to help conserve water by using recycled water for non-drinking purposes.
