Three Firms Compete For Ballastless Track Work On Mumbai Metro Line 2B

Three infrastructure firms — Paras Railtech, Apurvakriti Infrastructure (AIPL), and Rahee Infratech — have submitted bids for the second ballastless track contract on Mumbai Metro Line 2B (Yellow Line). The 23.6 km corridor, which runs from Andheri West to Mandale, is designed to significantly improve east-west connectivity across the city.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had floated the tender in March 2025, with an estimated value of Rs 121.83 crore. The contract includes the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of standard gauge ballastless tracks between Andheri West Station (Chainage 34+035.873) and ITO Station at Bandra-Kurla Complex (Chainage 44+857.698).

Technical bids were opened on April 22, 2025, and are currently under evaluation. Financial bids will be opened after the technical qualification to determine the lowest bidder.

Meanwhile, MMRDA has also begun trial runs on the 5.3 km Mandale–Mankhurd stretch of Line 2B, which includes five stations between Diamond Garden and Mandale. This progress highlights MMRDA’s ongoing push to accelerate metro infrastructure development, with Line 2B poised to become a vital transit link between Mumbai’s western and eastern suburbs.
