The Thane-Belapur Road will be completely closed owing to concrete work at a section of the highway, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Department announced. The closure is scheduled for May 14–21. The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has stated that the construction will begin on Wednesday, May 14, from 9 PM to midnight.
According to a report made by the Turbhe Traffic Division’s Senior Police Inspector, steps will be taken to guarantee that the public is inconvenienced as little as possible and that traffic congestion is reduced. In compliance with Sections 115, 116 (1) (a) (b), and 117 of the Motor Vehicles Act, as well as the authority granted by the Maharashtra Government’s Home Department Notification dated September 27, 1996, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Tirupati Kakade has issued an official notification that establishes traffic restrictions for the Thane-Belapur Road near IKEA.
As a result, for one week following the commencement of the construction, the Thane-Belapur highway segment from Savita Chemical to Turbhe Railway Station will be closed. For a little while, the rules will be in effect for all vehicles—two-wheelers, three, and four-wheelers—as the authorities strive to finish the next project. To minimise traffic difficulties, the authorities have offered alternate routes for the travellers.
According to a warning from Navi Mumbai traffic police, “light vehicles will be diverted via the Fire Brigade Signal (Mahape), proceeding through Sector 26 APMC and Palm Beach Road to reach their intended destinations.” “Two alternate routes have been designated for heavy vehicles.”
Drivers using the first route will need to pass via the Turbhe MIDC region after turning left at the Fire Brigade Signal (Mahape). For large vehicles, the second alternative is to continue on the Turbhe MIDC route after turning left beneath the Savita Chemical Bridge.
According to Navi Mumbai Traffic officials, the department has asked all regular commuters to abide by the rules and limits in place to prevent traffic jams during the construction work’s scheduled time of May 14–21.
