The founder and managing director of the Hiranandani Group, Niranjan Hiranandani, predicts that slum rehabilitation in Mumbai will receive more attention. Only 5 percent of the slum reconstruction promised 15-20 years ago has been finished, despite the fact that the first project in Dharavi has begun.
With half of Mumbai’s population living in slums, he anticipates that this issue will be given priority by future governments. Given that 50% of Mumbai’s population lives in slums, he predicted that any government running for office in the state elections would make a significant commitment to redeveloping the city’s slums. This would put them in a dominant position in the Mumbai region.
