Builders are advised by BMC to make construction sites monsoon-safe

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)’s building projects department has written to all developers, reminding them to take all essential precautions at their construction sites to prevent any disasters or disease outbreaks as the monsoon approaches. The circular was emailed online to developers and their apex body, the Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry, as well as to all development sites, according to Sunil Rathod, chief engineer of the Development Plan (DP).

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has ordered that builders refrain from excavating during the monsoon until all essential safety and preventative measures are implemented on site, supervised by their designated structural engineers and safety officials, in response to the three site cave-ins that were recorded last year. This is to ensure that there are no accidents on the construction site or on nearby properties.
