The acquisition of land necessary for the extension of Metro 6 beyond the Kanjurmarg depot is posing a considerable challenge for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
In order to carry out this expansion, MMRDA must get more than 3,000 square meters of railroad property for girders and stops along the path. With current efforts, it is anticipated that a 1,798-square-meter patch of forest will be cleared by July 2024. Five important places, Jogeshwari, Powai (near IIT Bombay), Kanjurmarg, EEH, and Saki Vihar, continue to face difficulties.
