The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) started demolishing huge and illegitimate hoardings within its authority, beginning with Belapur railway station complex where at least four billboards were taken off on 22 May, 2024.
While the removal of illegal hoardings that endanger the public has been welcomed by people and campaigners, they are also questioning why it is that the authorities are only acting now, after a tragedy has occurred in this respect.
