The MHADA unit Mumbai Buildings Repairs and Reconstruction Board (MBRRB) has finished its yearly pre-monsoon survey of the city’s ancient and decaying buildings. After that, the MBRRB categorised 20 buildings as risky; four of the buildings were also deemed dangerous the previous year.
Properties that have been ceased are ones where the renters have paid a tax to the housing authority, MBRRB, which goes toward maintaining the buildings. A total of 711 people live in these 20 buildings, comprising 217 non-residential and 494 residential inhabitants.
